Our Mission

Our mission is to support innovative research and advance clinical care to confront this mounting drug crisis and discover new ways to help individuals and families improve their health and wellness.

Every day in America, more than 136 people die of an opioid overdose, affecting millions of families and loved ones (SAMHSA, 2021).
Vast majority (90%) of teens who struggle with alcohol or drugs will not get any services (SAMHSA, 2021).
An estimated 1.3 million teens (5%), or 1-2 students in every high school class in America, struggle with addiction (SAMHSA, 2021).
Teens with more drug problems have heightened risk for addiction and prescription pill misuse as adults (McCabe et al., 2022).
A new study shows a startling rise in pills mixed with fentanyl, markedly increasing the risk of drug overdose and death (Palamar et al., 2022).

Dr. Ethan Mereish presents an invited talk at the 2021 NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Festival. Data for this presentation are from Drs. Mereish and Miranda's NIH-funded research study on minority stress and nicotine use among sexual minority youth who use nicotine.

Dr. Melissa Pielech is selected to co-chair the Intervention Committee of the Adolescent and Young Adult Special Interest Group through the Society of Pediatric Psychology, Division 54 of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Parnes receives an individual fellowship award from the NIH.

Dr. Jamie Parnes receives a fellowship award (F32) from the NIH to study treatment effects, mechanisms, and moderators in youth cannabis use treatment. The award funded by the NIH National Institute on Drug Abuse and sponsored by Bradley Hospital and Brown University.
Dr. Pielech receives a career development award from the NIH.

Dr. Melissa Pielech receives an NIH award to adapt and integrate evidence-based brief interventions for teen substance use and pain into a novel, pre-surgical brief intervention for teens who are undergoing wisdom tooth extraction and their caregiver(s).
Dr. Rosales receives an early-career development award from the NIH.

Dr. Robert Rosales receives an award from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to study socio-cultural protective and risk factors of alcohol use among non-Hispanic White and Hispanic sexual minority youth.
Dr. Treloar Padovano receives a national research award.

Dr. Hayley Treloar Padovano receives the Early Career Investigator Award from the Research Society on Alcoholism. This award recognizes an early career investigator who has demonstrated research excellence, potential to be a future leader and a commitment to the alcohol field.
Bradley Vista named a model treatment program for adolescents.

Just 3 years after its launch, Bradley Vista receives national recognition from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration as one of five model programs in the United States for treating youth who struggle with substance use and mental health issues.
